SMEs needed a way to access invoice factoring without wading through complex financial processes. PayEx had the infrastructure but lacked a user-friendly front end that could guide small business owners through signing up, connecting their systems, and selecting invoices for financing.
Designed a two-part system: a user-facing portal for SMEs to manage invoices and access factoring, and a partner admin section for PayEx to manage users and platform operations. Key features included automated invoice mapping, intelligent invoice scanning, and a streamlined customer journey from signup through first factoring submission.
Launched successfully with two prominent Nordic banks. SMEs now have a significantly faster, more automated path to invoice financing — reducing what was previously a complex, paper-heavy process into a clean digital workflow.
Worked closely with PayEx and the Asteria team to map the full factoring journey from the SME's perspective — from first contact through system connection, invoice selection, and submission. Every step had friction that needed to be eliminated. The goal was to make factoring feel as simple as online banking.
The solution required two distinct interfaces built on a shared design system: the SME user portal for day-to-day invoice management, and the PayEx admin panel for user management and operational oversight. Maintaining design consistency across both while serving very different user needs was a central challenge.
The key technical design challenge was representing automated invoice processing in a way users could trust. Designed clear status flows, confirmation states, and error handling that made the automation feel reliable and transparent. Launched with two prominent banks in the Nordic region.
